Once upon a time, in a small town, there was a girl sitting on her bed while the sun broke through the window, reflecting in the screen of her phone. The girl’s name was Cinderella. She had been sitting in her room for a while now because her stepmother grounded her.
Her stepmother... She was something else. Cinderella did not really get along with her. Since her dad moved in with her, their home was in constant state of aggressive arguing and fierce fighting. And then, to put a cherry on top, her stepmother caught her smoking out the window of her bedroom. That was it. Grounding for a whole month.
Cinderella’s best friend Rapunzel told her that Tinder is a nice distraction from boredom. “Everyone nowadays has Tinder-it’s like going online shopping” she said. So why shouldn`t they just download the app?
Swipe after swipe to the left, until suddenly, a gorgeous guy appeared on her screen.
She swiped right and- IT’S A MATCH!
After texting for a while, Cinderella`s match invited her to a rave that evening, but she was still grounded. Cinderella immediately called Rapunzel, explaining the struggle. Rapunzel would sneak into Cinderella`s room through the window, help her style up and then stay in her bed to sleep there so when her stepmother came in to check if Cinderella is sleeping, she wouldn’t notice that she is not home.
In the evening, Rapunzel arrived for the makeover... They took out the shiniest and most glittery make up palettes they find and got started. A brush here, a wipe and slowly Cinderella was turning into Tinderella, a gorgeous, glittery, creature, almost like the fairy-version of her own self.
After the makeover Cinderella left and arrived at the rave to meet her Tinder match.
“Hey, I´m Cinderella nice to meet you!”, she says to her Tinder match. “Hey, I’m Hans. So glad that you came, I couldn`t wait to finally meet you. You already looked stunning on your pictures but in real life you are even prettier!” Hans answered with a captivating smile. Tinderella looked at him, but suddenly something was off. “I don’t even feel the vibe...” she thought to herself. “Wanna go dance? The music is lit!” Hans said, offering his hand. She shrugs, “Sure.”. Even if the date was a fail, she could still have a fun night, Tinderella decided. After all, she was not solemnly here for him. She was here for the rave as well.
Cinderella and Hans partied the whole night, but after a while, Tinderella started to get tired. Her Tinder Date had disappeared to the toilet for 30 min, the new DJ played weird music and she had to do their family’s groceries tomorrow morning, another part of her stepmother’s creative punishment methods. She swirled around, grabbed her coat, and rushed off, barely looking behind her. “What are you doing?” Hans asked, walking unsteadily towards her. “I´m off!”, Tinderella told him and left the location.
But what Tinderella didn’t know is that someone had been watching her for a while. Her name was Princess, and she couldn’t take her eyes off Tinderella the whole night.
She was emersed in the music, moving her body to the beat, but suddenly she rushed off. Princess tried to catch her, but she was gone. Suddenly Princess saw something- a bright, shiny phone case. She searched all over the rave location, trying to find Tinderella. Princess just couldn’t get the picture of her dancing to herself out of her head- she was the most beautiful creature she had ever seen. Princess stumbled out of the building- “I need to find her!” she whispered to herself, looking at the phone. She then realized: It had face recognition.
This could be the way to find her- the phone would recognize her face as soon as Princess spotted her somewhere. It was dawning, the sun was coming up and she knew her mission. Princess got on her bike and went off. Where could Tinderella be? Suddenly, while passing a beautiful park, the morning sun hit a person running into the green. Princess jumped off her bike: “Hey! Wait!”. But as the person turned around, they looked nothing like Tinderella.
Slowly, the exhaustion kicked in. She hadn’t slept all night; she was still a bit drunk and felt sweaty and sleepy. “This doesn’t make sense...I’ll wait for her to find her phone with the find my phone app.” Princess thought, stopping at the next supermarket. “I’ll just get myself a coffee to sober up and then go to bed.” As she was lurching through the cereal aisle, she suddenly saw someone picking up muesli... The person turned around and she inhaled sharply. With shaking hands, Princess held up Tinderella’s phone and it... unlocked!
“I finally found you, I was looking for you all night! I searched in the whole city but couldn`t find you. Last night, I saw you dancing at the rave... I don’t think you saw me, but I just couldn’t stop looking and you left and dropped your phone so...”
“...So?” Tinderella took the phone off Princess. “Well, do you wanna grab a drink sometime?”
She looked at her with big, tired eyes.
Tinderella felt overwhelmed. She was hungover and annoyed by having to get up early to go food shopping. “Thank you, a lot, that you didn`t give up on searching for me. Really, that is so sweet.”
She answered slowly. She felt obligated to say yes since the girl had been searching for her all night and she felt like she owed her. Realizing this, she stopped: “Just because she found my phone doesn’t mean I have to go on a date if I don’t want to.” She thought to herself. She was sweet, sure, and she didn’t seem like a bad person.
But after all, she was still grounded and most importantly, Tinderella did not feel like dating at the moment. “You know what, I’ll just give you my Instagram and we can see, yes?” She smiled at her. “Umm. Sure.” Princess replied. She seemed a bit taken aback, but she got the hint. “@Tinderella. Just DM me.” Tinderella winked at her, grabbed the muesli, and left another one standing.
On her way back, she felt relieved. She knew she did the right thing. And she lived happily ever after
